First things first!

You will all remember that before market, I promised Ruger a Wild Thing quilt of his very own. Well, upon my market return this project was the very first thing on my list and was not to be set aside for anything. He watched over my shoulder saying, "Is that for meeee?" Which of course led to a battle between Ruger and Sawyer as to whom the quilt was for...needless to say my current project is a quilt for Sawyer. :) It's been really enjoyable though, watching these two get so excited over such projects. They are growing so fast and becoming so close, it makes my heart ache just a little, because I remember how little they used to be. I love the satisfaction of completing something and knowing that we get to keep it forever and it doesn't have to be mailed out the next day. My business is fantastic, but nothing can compare to the feeling I get from using this gift for my family.

This was suppose to be his birthday present, but I just couldn't wait! I love you Rugerman!

Sometimes...

...life just requires you to take a breather. I made a new goal, I'm going to work really hard at playing with my kids (a.k.a. family time) rather than watching them play. Last weekend we camped in the backyard as a family (suffering from sinuses now) and then this week we visited Grandmas and jumped on trampolines. Hi Grandmas and all our wonderful cousins! Next week: Toy Story 3! If you have any fun family time ideas please let me know...I love new ideas!

A mini-vacation if you will.

The trip to Shriners went well...I think. After much poking and prodding, we (the docs included) made a few decisions. Sawyer will have a sleep study later this summer and next summer we will be straightening his legs, because "they don't look that great" as the P.A. put it.
A lot of information was thrown at us on this trip and I'm not sure if it's all factual or just guesses (you know how it goes). It was mentioned that Ruger's hearing loss could be stemmed from my genetic situation. Something about genetic mutations and such, I'm not fully convinced, but not in denial either. On this visit we were told that it is best to perform the limb lengthening procedure after the child has stopped growing (14-16 yrs.). AND also they said that the apparatus has advanced quite a bit and the wheelchair time is significantly less...that made me excited!
We were sitting there talking and suddenly the P.A. grabbed my legs and started tugging and pulling up my pant legs to see my scars. Lucky for him I've become adapted to such doctor behavior. He said that it's not often that they see such positive results from the procedure and they think it's because we waited until I was older. Again, I'm not sure if this just a case by case situation or not, I just wanted to throw it out there. And finally, they mentioned that when they do Sawyer's straightening that there would be no casts. They're just sticking a really small metal plate in his knee and it will guide his legs to straigthen in a different direction over a 6-8 month period. He won't even know it's there. Has anyone heard of this? I hadn't until this trip and I'm very curious. That wraps up the visit, but since we traveled all the way there, we decided to have some fun. Be prepared for some super cute, messy faces. :)
Last year at the fair Ruger was terrified of every ride but the train. This year he was hot stuff riding every single ride he could. There was no fear, not even on the water slides. And he could barely contain his excitement. He's never been so well behaved in his life!
Sawyer on the other hand didn't reach very many of the height requirements and so he got to watch from the wagon...look at that face!
He's not bored...just relaxed.
When Jason took both of them on this ride I was freaking out. I was so scared that Sawyer would slip under the rail, or Ruger would jump off. I walked all the way across the park, directly below them, just in case. The boys loved it!
And then when nightime came and we were all really tired, because noone took a nap, we decided to pack up and head to my brother's house for the night. We had a lot of fun with our cousins and learned that Aunt Carlin still makes the best food in the world! :) And that was our mini-vacation. We had a blast!

Don't know what to do?

So I just received an email from my sister-in-law informing that my email has been hijacked! Seriously I'm in tears...I'm so sorry to anyone that got this terrible email...I'm working really hard to fix this considering the fact that all of my work accounts are in there...if anyone has any advice please send it my way! So sorry!

Edit: OK so I've calmed down now and have changed every password to every type of account that I have! :) Go me! Just a warning though...I was told at market that email accounts were being hacked into and that I should change my password and I didn't listen...lesson learned. And the giveaway is still going on! ;)

I'm thinking...GIVEAWAY!

Giveaway CLOSED.

It's been a loooong time since I've hosted a giveaway on MY own blog, so I thought today we'd do that. We got a call today reminding us that we have an appointment at Shriners coming up, which both my husband and I forgot about. And I'm almost certain that they're going to tell us that Sawyer needs to have his legs straightened...something I'm dreading and don't want to hear because, I'm not nearly as strong as Destini. :(
So, just in case we're making a family vacation out of the whole trip! The giveaway will go until I get back (sometime in the future) and then we will draw a name for the lucky winner of this adorable Tiny Clutch (made by Roni)...
Don't you just love the Amy Butler fabrics? So if you read this blog, or have ever read this blog, or stop by occassionaly, or are just discovering it today, leave a comment telling me some really good news that's happening in your life right now (one entry per person) and maybe you will be the lucky, lucky winner!
Oh and also when I get back I'm certain I will have some new pics to post of the absolute, most adorable little boys in the whole world (I think you know who I'm talking about). :)

Legendary Mini Flower Tutorial

This flower tutorial is designed to go with the Legendary Mini bag, but can work with other bags as well. Sorry it took me so long to post. :)

1. Cut one 2" by 22" strip out of body scraps. Make a loose running stitch all the way across the bottom allowing fabric to ruffle. Don't stitch ends together yet!
2. Cut 3.5" by 18" strip out of lining scraps. Fold in half lengthwise and press. Cut small slits 1/2" apart on the fold all the way across.
3. Make smaller slits on the other side (raw edges) all the way across for flexibility later.
4. Fold lining fabric in half to measure 1.75" by 9" and roll up fabric to make center of flower. Hand stitch across the bottom of the center piece, securing all of the layers together.
5. Wrap body fabric around rolled fabric and stitch ends together. Hand stitch body fabric to the rolled fabric to secure in place. Flatten out slits on the bottom of the fabric to allow for a flat base.
6. Flower should look like this:
